Wildlife in My Backyard Introductory Blog

Introduction.

Hello my name is Matthew Bell. Welcome to my blog! I write about the different plant and animal life I have encountered around my home and during my travels. I will also write about different topics which includes: pets, ecosystems, creation science, and strange natural phenomenon. I currently hold a B.S. in Environmental Science, and have focused studied in Biology.

Why I Started This Blog?

I decided to start this blog because I love writing, and learning about the different animal and plant life in our world. So, I thought it would be fun to start documenting the animal and plant life that lives around my home. I hoped this will increase my knowledge of the wildlife in my area, and anyone who reads this blog.

My Life Story.

I was born in Fort Wayne Indiana on November 20, 1989, and spent the first two years of my life there. After leaving Indiana in 1991 I moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. “The best city in the world in my opinion.” I spent most of my childhood years there. During that time I fell in love with the Pittsburgh Zoo, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and National Aviary. Much to my heart break, I had to leave Pittsburgh In 1997.
I moved to Columbia City Indiana. Since I was older, nine at the time I was able to enjoy the different plant and animal life Indiana had to offer. I remember spending countless hours exploring a pound near my house, and collecting grey tree frogs every summer. However my time in Indiana was once again short lived.
In 1999 I moved to Southeastern Pennsylvania where I live to this day. After finishing high school, I really had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I wanted to work with animals, but had no idea what direction I wanted to take my life in. I got my Vet Assistant Certification in 2010. After learning about the field of veterinary medicine, I realized it was not something I wanted to pursue as a career. After graduation I got a job at a pet vacation resort where I have worked for the past seven years. In 2012 I started attending University of Phoenix online. In 2016 I got my B.S. in Environmental Science. I have also focused studied in Biology. I hope to get my future job in the Pittsburgh area working at the zoo or in the wildlife field around the area.
Since I was a kid, I have always had a love for nature and the different organisms that live in our world. Ecology became a passion of mine during collage. I loved learning about how different species interact with their environment, and how every species in an ecosystem has an effect on each other. Creation science is another passion of mine. My love of dinosaurs got me started down that path. A path I will follow until the day I die.

My Religious Views and Hobbies.

I would describe myself as a Gothic Christian. I know a weird combination, but hey I’m a weird person. One of my favorite saying is “If the clothes aren’t black put it back.” I believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible, and six literal created days.
My hobbies are video gaming, collecting action figures, writing novels, hiking, and anything Gothic, fantasy, and Sy-Fy. I also enjoy martial arts and football. Steelers and Packers are my favorite teams.

Description of my Backyard.

I am blessed to live in an area that has many different landscapes. I own about an acre and a half of land. My yard has two small temperate deciduous forests. One in front of my house and one in the back. Together these forests take up about half an acre of land. A small creek runs through the forest in front of my house. The remaining acre is a normal country yard. I am also surrounded my corn fields. Below are some photos of my backyard.

Blog Updates and Ending.

I plan on adding one to two articles a week to this blog post. Comments and questions are always welcome.
Come along as we explore the wildlife in my backyard, and other nature topics.
